Panasonic, Samsung and Sony announcements on January 5th.

Samsung, Sony and Panasonic confirmed they will announce new products on January 5th. But there will be almost certainly no new mirrorless system (photo)camera. They will announce new TV's camcorders and maybe compact and fixed lens cameras.

Samsung may be the only exception. There is a new NX400 (or NX500) coming soon. We just don't know yet if it will be announced at CES or CP+.

Samsung will launch new zoom smartphone cameras at CES.

One way to move away from the shrinking compact camera and fixed lens cameras is to "try" to offer a similar experience on smartphone cameras. That is exactly what Samsung is doing with the smartphone zoom series.

And now Samsung will introduce at least three new smartphones with zoom lenses on it at CES (start at January 6). The C125, C600 and C805. We will see if those smartphone-camera hybrids will succeed on the market!

New interviews: Olympus says no Full Frame yet. And Sony says no Medium Format yet.

Today DC.watch posted the content of the interview with Sony and Olympus. There is no really interesting info about their plans. As expected they will both focus on strengthen their current camera and lens line. Both confirm the trend goes towards realizing Higher Megapixel sensor and better autofocus performance. They also said what they NOT plan to do in the near future: Olympus will not go Full frame yet and Sony will not make an interchangeable Medium Format system yet.

Christmas Rumor: Samsung NX1-lx camera with less than 20MP and 1 stop ISO increase.

It's Christmas rumor time :)

SamsungCameraRumors reports:

Samsung is seriously considering to launch a special NX1-lx camera version with lower than 20 megapixel sensor. It will have 1 stop better High ISO performance than the current NX1. And it has 2 stop better high ISO than the current NX30/NX300 cameras.

The likely release of the camera is second half of 2015.

Sony A7000 and A9 to be announced as next?

Sony rumors are growing lately and there seems to be two new E-mount cameras on the pipeline:

Sony A7000:

APS-C E-mount camera with 5 axis stabilization and priced above the A6000 but still way less than $1,000 with kit lens. Announcement at CP+ in February?

Sony A9:

Placed above the current A7 series. Full Frame sensor with almost 50 megapixel resolution (Bayer sensor). 4D tracking af and 5 axis included. Coming early or mid 2015.

Both sound like very attractive packages. Me personally think the A7000 coul be the best bet for the buck here!

Updated Samsung NX400 specs: Will compete against the Sony A6000!

Current NX300 vs A6000 (CameraSize).

Redcrow and SamsungCameraRumors are spilling out info about the next Samsung NX400 camera that should be announced in January/February.

- Same 28MP NX1 sensor

- Same NX1 autofous system

- Built-in EVF

- smaller buffer than nx1 but triple than nx300.

- 4K recording (although not 100% sure yet)

- no weather sealed body

- Price around $900 with kit lens.

Those features would push the NX400 in direct competition with the Sony A6000. But if the price gets confirmed it's quite above the $798 you spend now for the A6000 double lens kit!

I got more confirmations from sources that Samsung will launch the NX400 next month already. It has indeed the same NX1 sensor and AF system. But the NX400 will not be weather sealed and not have 4K.

Olympus E-M5II has same E-M5 sensor.

Image of the E-M5 sensor by Engadget

Olympus is going the Canon route and will keep "re-using" the same sensor on the newer generation cameras. The E-M5II will get the same E-M5 sensor without PDAF.

But still, Olympus will add the sensor shift shooting feature that will allow you to take 40 megapixel pictures by combining 8 pictures shot in rapid succession.

A dream come true? Rumored 50 megapixel Full Frame mirrorless camera from Canon!

A Full Frame mirrorless camera designed by David Riesenberg,

Well, I am sure Canon will release first "advanced" mirrorless system cameras in 2015. And Canon itself hinted the possibility to launch a completely new mirrorless mount system.

CanonWatch now reports that the launch of a 50 Megapixel Mirrorless Full frame camera is likely to happen in 2015.

I am yet not sure if that rumor is likely to become true or not. But we know Sony has a new A9 with high Megapixel sensor coming soon and I guess Canon knows that too...

From EOS-M to EOS-Madness? LOL :)
